Customer Service

I have been an owner and operator of a small business for over ten years, and in that time I have seen a massive change in customer service.

As a consumer, I expect to hear “Thank you” when I make a purchase so it irritates me when I spend my hard-earned money somewhere only to have the bag thrown at me without any acknowledgement.

Consequently, I have gotten very picky over the years about where I choose to shop. Maybe it’s because I run a service-based business myself, maybe it’s because I grew up in a different time, or maybe it’s because a lot of people just don’t seem to care anymore, but customer service is the NUMBER ONE reason I patronize one store over another.

Great customer service is the foundation of my sugaring hair removal business. I want my clients to feel welcome and appreciated, because they are the ones who make my business successful. I won’t ever forget that. I am truly grateful for every client who comes through my door and will not let anyone leave without a heart-felt thank you.

In addition, I truly enjoy getting to know people on a personal level. I want to have a deeper connection to who they are; I appreciate learning more about their families, jobs, hobbies, pets, successes and even their struggles. Creating connection with others is what builds a better world. My business is sugaring hair removal, but I believe providing great customer service also serves to remind my clients of their importance and worth as individuals.

A Trip of a Lifetime

Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to Peru. Cusco is a beautiful city high in the Andes Mountains. We hiked and saw several ancient sacred sites within the folds of the mountains. We concluded the trip in Juliaca close to Lake Titicaca and the scenery was breath-taking, yet every single day I was reminded of how many things I have to be grateful for…

We become so enmeshed in our day-to-day schedules that we often forget many of us essentially have everything we need to have a wonderful life. We have clean water, paved streets, utilities, an abundance of food, warm and dry living space, and access to quality health care.

I came back with a new found appreciation for toilet seats, toilet paper, and the ability to actually flush the paper instead of putting it into a trash can. The people there spend each day doing things they need to do just to survive. There is little time for fun or extravagances.

Local women clean wool and alpaca with natural root soap, use dye from plants, beetles and herbs, and make beautiful sweaters and blankets on hand looms.

It was the trip of a lifetime and I am grateful I had the chance to see Peru and meet the people, try the local cuisine, and explore structures that are centuries old. It is a daily reminder to live life from a place of gratitude.

Gratitude

Every December, as the year comes to a close and we’re in the midst of the holiday season, I like to take time to review. This past twelve months I’ve been through many changes both personally and professionally. My son’s disease became worse and he was placed in a residential care facility. After four years in probate I was finally able to sell my mom’s condo. And I lost my fourth employee in as many years.

With all that I can honestly say my year was great. I feel blessed beyond measure and so grateful to be of service to all my loyal clients. I want to wish you and your families a happy and healthy holiday and a peaceful and abundant new year.

I appreciate each and every one of you for your continued support and patronage over the past year.

With much thanks and warm gratitude,

Linda Hoff
